I've been speaking to Stephen about some bypass tweaks to minimize IP changes, which may include giving TOR users an ID per-bypass to identify them individually. We're looking at fixing the IPv6 TOR issues. Ultimately, there's more elegant solutions.

It could be done, but it's one more thing to add to the checklist and worry about in case of emergency. What happens if a board blocks TOR anons and the site loses clearnet access? At the very least, we would need to globally override board settings. However, this is still predicated on PoW being polished enough to work reliably without preventing users from posting, and I'd like to avoid anons being stuck in a Kafkaesque scenario of being unable to report PoW bugs because they cannot get a bypass to post with. Board Owners could opt-in to require PoW bypasses on their board, and users with a normal bypass would then need to "upgrade" their existing bypass to post there. Having wrestled with the problem for about a year now, I think the most feasible solution would be having a two-tier bypass system your bypass either solved a PoW or did not. A system where board owners set their own PoW difficulty or have their own bypasses potentially means waiting several minutes per board you want to post on, and users with lower-end machines may suffer as a result. Historically, bypasses have been a passport to the entire site that is handed out based on the requirements at the time it is procured. I agree, too, and it's doable, but not straightforward to implement. If I want to make an hour long PoW bypass but have those bypasses be valid for 7 days why shouldn't I be able to? Board owners shouldn't have to depend on Acid to deal with spam. Board owners should also be able to configure how long bypasses stay valid for too. If a BO wants to enable a 30 minute PoW bypass for his board to deter spammers then let him. Those ways just need to be implemented and board owners need to access to configure those tools on a board by board basis, or even a thread by thread basis. It's not difficult at all to imagine using the tools that already exist in significantly better ways. This instantly fucks over spammers while leaving the majority of anons not even noticing any measures have even been taken at all. If someone is spamming you can simply enable an increasingly extreme PoW bypass for any new bypasses while leaving the old bypasses in place. Which is why PoW should be a BO option and configurable by each individual BO depending on how much they're willing to inconvenience their users. >482975 >Aside from the PoW that only admins can enable (and in a global basis) and the captcha (which doesn't do much alone) As you can see, IP and IDs are put together, and I have no idea if Lynxchan bothers to only ban IDs and leave IPs alone in Tor posts or if it bans both like with clearnet posts. Pics related, the form used to ban users. So either Lynxchan is broken somewhere and is using IPs instead of IDs to ban on Tor, or it always banned both the ID and the IP of an user and this only became noticeable when the vaxtard started abusing Tor to spam.

The only other effective "tool" is the autism of the mod in turn willing to spend 1 hour fighting a bot until the botfag gets tired of solving captchas and leaves for a while.įrom a mod's POV you only see cocks the Bypass ID on proper Tor posts (aka those made using the onion domain or Redchannit) and various details on every other kind of post (ASN, hashed IP ranges, hashed IP and Bypass ID).
#Unteralterbach pictures manual
Hash filters are useless since file hashes can be edited in 5 seconds, word filters only replace text without preventing the posters from uploading their post (like in cuckchan), mass IP/ID are effective but a hassle to do because pressing the button sends you to the index (forcing you to find and open the target thread again) and you have to be careful not to delete "innocent" posts in the crossfire, manual deletions may not work in some pages because reasons, etc. >482775 >There are already tools available built into the site to deal with spamĪside from the PoW that only admins can enable (and in a global basis) and the captcha (which doesn't do much alone), there's not much to deter spammers. >482763 >check the logs >ctrl+f "globally banned" >most of the global bans (no idea if they're on Tor or clearnet, but many cite "spam" as the cause) were given by kazu >a couple more were given by Bajabronze and Acid (lol) Somebody clean the OMORI thread from metadrama about how lolis took part in the demise of 8kun and the creation of 8moe.
